!TMI Alert! - How do you care for the "hair down there"

My only sources of info on topics like this are Sex in the City reruns, hair removal product commercials and (hopefully) the Diaper Swappers ladies.

Now, from watching Sex in the City, you'd think that every woman in america plunked down beaucoup bucks every two weeks for a professional brazillian wax at a posh salon. I don't have the $ for that, and can't think of too many people (other than the Carrie Bradshaw's of the world) who do. Personally, I'd be too shy to ask for one from the lady who does my eyebrows even if I wanted to spend the $ on a part of my body that no one other than me and dh and the ob/gyn ever sees!

From the hair removal product commercials, you'd think that every woman's most pressing problem is how to get rid of all her body hair - every last bit of it, chemicals and pain be darned! I won't even use nair on my legs, much less my more sensitive bits - seriously, is it really even safe?!?

In my more adventurous past, I tried shaving (YEOUCH!). I walked bowlegged for the next month while everything "grew out". I can't imagine being shaved for a baby to be born & have to deal with that along with a tear! Never again! I've never been brave enough to wax myself - something about hot liquids going places I can't even see scares me too much. I used to use clippers to keep things pretty short, much more comfortable than shaving, and honestly I think dh appreciated it. Lately, with the baby and no sleep and barely enough time to shower before I start to smell ripe from across the room, I've just been going native.

Am I seriously behind the times?

I shave but you have to keep up on it, I shave it, almost ALL of it, every 2 days or so. I can't imagine waxing!

I use the top part of the electric shaver, i think it ment for men who shave thier beards? Anyway it gets it nice and short but not bald, totally painless, and no growing back itch!

I shave. Usually once a week or so. Its easier if you do it more often. And make sure you have a sharp razor and a good shave gel or lubricant. I prefer baby oil honestly. It leaves a smooth shave. Also, after shaving use a little powder or deoderant to keep the area smooth and dry. That will help prevent chafing and icky bumps. HTH.. sorry for TMI!

I shave everything, but I have to wait until it grows to a bit more than stubble otherwise it does hurt.

I shave every week or so. Sometimes I go longer and sometimes less, I also heard using Visine works well with the after shave bumpies. I found that shaving before giving birth was much less icky when it comes to bleeding afterwards. I don't feel as clean when I'm unshaved.

I shave everything, too. I try to keep on top of it, but honestly I can't since I've gotten so big, LOL. I don't know about having permanent hair removal down there - seems scary, LOL. I'd like to know how much it would cost, though - really.
