Need help with a big baby and right carseat

I need some help choosing a carseat for my daughter. Aubrey is 7 months but BIG, she weighs 20 pounds but is short...lol I believe 27 inches tall. She is currently in a Chicco but its only good till 22 pounds. I love the way she fits in it, and she still sleeps in the car alot. We use it as a carrier if we are out and about, which is often. Here is my dilemma, do we buy another infant carseat for the the comfort for her, and ease for us, or go ahead and move her to a conver, carseat? She is baby #8 and our last...I have a Graco MyRide 65 man date 2011..I bought this seat for my daughter who is now 4. I used it for a short while, and didnt care for the fit in my car, so I bought the Graco Nautilis and thats what the 4 yr old is in. We put it in my car the other day, and I remember why I dont like it...It just DOES NOT fit well RF. What seat is good for us? Here is my info-

Aubrey is 7 months,
must recline nicely
well padded (important to me)
I have a 2001 Chevy Suburban
Will go in captains chair behind driver seat
Aubrey is 20 pounds 27 inches tall (I think on height)
Install well without LATCH, I do not have it in my car, only seatbelt.
Oh and RF till 2

I looked at the Britax Marathon G3 and like those, but have only seen them online. Price doesnt matter...but I always love a bargain

Just looked at Albee website again...what is the difference between the Marathon 70 G3, the Pavillion, and The Blvd?

So carseat savvy moms...help me, please!

Britax are nice seats. You definitely can't go wrong there.
Also look at the Pria, Radians, and the new Chicco NextFit seat.

I just looked at the Pria...and I do NOT like the Radians...at all..I do not understand why do many people love them...they are so narrow, and sit so flat, Nothing about that seat is appealing to me...I must be weird. Id like a carseat with a base so it kind of sits up tall and she can see out the window. Our BRUS has the radians..and yuck..lol

My SIL has a snug and ride graco 35 good until 35 pounds not sure on the inches
My baby is big too. 19lbs 10 oz at 6 months and 27 inches. Not sure what she weights now but we have a graco 30 30 and like it. Wished we got the bigger one though as I like her in a carrier

Only redeeming quality of Radians IMO is that they are narrow and fit 3 across in DH's car. I have 3 and I HATE HATE HATE dealing with them.

I also hate our Radian, but it's tall for my 3 yo DS. We loved our Britax; I would recommend it in a second for shorter kids.

Without having LATCH, I would lean toward a car seat with seatbelt lockoffs so that you don't have to lock the seatbelt. I think that would pretty much be the Britax seats and the new Chicco Nextfit. Also the Truefits have lockoffs, but they have a lower rear facing weight limit, and so I would probably lean away from those for a heavy kid.

Re: Need help with a big baby and right carseat

FWIW, my DS weighed 20 lbs at 6 months and STILL weighed 20 lbs at 12 months. So I thought he was this huge baby but he didn't stay huge. We have a TrueFit Premier, which has a 35 lb RF weight limit, and he is still RFing in it at age 2 with hopefully a long way to go (he's currently aroud 28-29 lbs.)

The TFP is well-padded and we have it installed with the seatbelt as I don't have LATCH. It does take up a lot of room front-to-back.

Re: Need help with a big baby and right carseat

We love our Radian, for the most part, but based on your requirements:
a. Chicco Nextfit
b. Safety 1st Air 70? Not as high profile as some seats
c. Evenflo Symphony 65 e3 big & padded
d. Maxi Cosi Pria 70
e. Many Britax models

For us, we initially loved the taller convertible seats with deep side walls for the reassurance they gave us mentally. As DS got older, those things became an obstacle to loading a toddler in and out of a Mazda5. May not be an issue in a Suburban, but our toddler wants to do everything "himself" and getting in & out of the car was a huge pain in a Recaro ProRide which sits up higher and has deeper side walls.

I like our radian very much, but if I had a new baby I would for sure look at the nextfit. It looks awesome. For a short kiddo, I'd also consider a britax marathon.
