Raw milk questions

So I've recently found a herd share with an opening available so I need to quickly decide of I want in.

I'll do further research based on what direction you mamas guide me in, thanks!

So, is raw milk 'good' for you, or just not as bad as pasteurized milk?

What questions should I ask the farmer/ what should I be aware of?

Is it safe to give to my toddler?

Anything I need to do special with it? How long is it good for?

Tell me everything!

Re: Raw milk questions

Provided everything is kept as clean as possible and the cows are not treated with hormones and antibiotics, raw milk is good for you. Pasteurized milk isn't good for you. It is safe for anyone who does not have a dairy allergy. People with dairy sensitivity can usually drink it, as well. It tastes fabulous. We have no problem with our milk lasting close to two weeks. This will depend on a few things. We store ours in quart sized mason jars (shake at least once a day to mix the cream), so they are not being opened and exposed to stuff. Also, because the beneficial bacteria and enzymes are still init, raw milk doesn't go bad in the same way as pasteurized milk. Raw milk will sour first, at which point it is still safe for cooking and baking. It works like buttermilk at that point.
