I do it all the time. However I do pre-spray and pre-scrub all poopy diapers and rinse out pee diapers in the sink before they goes into the washer.

I do it if I have a very small white load. Or bibs or heavily soiled items.

I also wipe my kids hands/mouth after eating with the same cloth wipes I use for diapering. I figure, if it's not clean enough to use on their mouths, it shouldn't be going on their butts either

This. We also use wipes (booty wipes) for face clothes, kleenex's when my dd has a nasty cold, etc. they are the softest. I don't understand what's so gross about washing laundry with diapers. If my diapers aren't coming out of the washer as clean as her clothes comes out of the washer, then that means that something is seriously wrong with my wash routine.

I will throw other things in with our diapers but I tend to throw in cleaning rags, clean-up towels, etc.

I always do - my DH asked once, and my response was "the diaper laundry gets the cleanest out of everything" he had to agree: rinse, prewash, hot wash with bleach, rinse... nothing else gets that kind of treatment.

never tried it... I don't wash anything else so aggressively, besides rags, and just wouldn't have space. an unfortunate FL that takes forever for diaper loads- its full! and I worry about overstuffing.

I don't generally put kitchen towels in with, but I will put underwear or bathroom cleaning rags in. I don't find it gross.

Re: throwing other laundry in the diaper load...gross or ok?

Now that my DS2 has PLed and only wears one diaper/day, at night (and doesn't always wet it) I don't have much diaper laundry. I dry-pail the inserts, and put the covers (mostly fleece wraps) into the towel/kitchen/rage laundry bag.

I usually run that load once/week. First I take the diaper inserts and run a rinse/spin with bleach. Then I add the rest and wash normally. It's been working out really well, everything is always clean and fresh and NO ammonia.

Re: throwing other laundry in the diaper load...gross or ok?

Before DD was potty trained, I would put all her dipes and her laundry in the wash together. They all go back to the same room, so it made sense to me Plus, she didn't poop in a diaper regularly after about 6 months and even if she did poop in her diaper, it was once in a blue moon. I'd hand wash the poopy diaper then toss it in with the rest of the wash. We've never had a problem!
