My friends who was seen at a hospital that delivers the most babies in California had her ultrasound be off by 2lbs. Remember it's just a series of measurements. Her baby is barrel chested. It resulted In a very an unneeded c-section

My first, I had a BPP about 2 hours before I had her at 38 weeks. They said about 8 and a half pounds, she was 8lb 4oz - pretty close!

My second, again had a BPP a few hours before I had him at 38 weeks (I had pre-e with my first 2!) and again they said 8 and a half pounds, he was 8lbs 7oz!

My third, I honestly don't remember, that entire pregnancy was a blur!

Re: 38 week ultrasound- how accurate is the weight estimate?

I had ultrasounds within a few days of delivery, all were very close, within 2-3 ounces.

I think if you have very proportional babies, uou've get a more accurate reading.

Jumbo thighs? Big melon head? Barrel chest? Screwed for accuracy, those numbers mess it up.

I've only had one 3rd trimester u/s. DS was estimated to be 9lbs 6oz at 42 weeks. He was born two days later, weighing 8lbs 8oz.
