Re: anyone make their own mei-tie?

I did about 3 yrs ago & used links on the Jan Andreas site (the same one posted above). My only regret is that I didn't pad the waist strap & would like a bit more padding in the shoulders. That said, I just used it to tote my 35lb 3 yr old for about a mile. Still works great, still comfortable & still my favorite carrier (compared to a boba 2g).

I used the tutorial at this site. I should have made the body a bit longer because the body part is only about 17 1/2 inches, but I love it still. http://scanditute.blogspot.com/

I sort of winged my first one, and it turned out allright, but I didn't pad the waist, HUGE MISTAKE! I couldn't even use it because it would bunch up and dig into my waist. So I cut it up and tried again. I used the measurements from the kinder pack website. Mine is just made from onsnaburg with wrap style straps, no padding. It's not pretty (unless you think a beige rectangle is pretty!) but it's comfy and safe, with an "Xbox" for all the straps. DS likes it!

please forgive all typos due to auto correct's lack of mind reading abilities. :-)

Re: anyone make their own mei-tie?

I made one almost a year ago, also using the info from Jan Andrea's site. I used denim from Joann's, and padded the shoulder straps with some black fleece that I had lying around. I actually like it, but I made it small and it no longer fits my baby well. I'm happy with the unpadded waist, I made it out of one continuous strap, and folded the two-layer body panel around it. If I make another one, I might try angled waist straps, since I love the Kozy.

This is the tutorial I used and it turned out great! (Don't know if it'll be a clickable link... On the app...)

You guys are way more skilled than I am. I would love to make a personalized carrier but I don't trust my own sewing.....good luck mama
