Re: Am I a candidate for VBAC??

Sooo just had the conversation with my Mom about being pregnant and wanting a VBAC.. She's an RN just like me and you seriously would have thought I just announced I was killing myself and my child. Ugh :/ this is going to be a long 9 months!!!

Oh that's lousy. Of course, you realize that's the "old school" point of view on VBAC. They were taught that if you tried again you'd die, pretty much, and no doubt she's scared for you now. Hopefully she'll come around with some time to think, and you can always show her the research that proves that VBAC is a safe (safer!) option.

Re: Am I a candidate for VBAC??

Happy news, my husband has been great about supporting me to look j to everything, has been reading up on the facts and says he will back me up if this is what I really want so on that note yay! My mom hasn't said too much lol. I have an appointment with my old GYN Friday and will get all my records and then off to Columbus ( an hour away) to find my new GYN for my hopeful VBAC!

Re: Am I a candidate for VBAC??

Good luck!

My mom's not very confrontational, but she did tell me after my VBAC that one of her friends told her that her (the friend's) daughter had thought about trying for a VBAC but had scrapped that idea because the risk of death is "2%." Sheesh. So I rattled off the actual statistics and was like, mom, please, I hope you know I wouldn't have done it if were actually any riskier than a RCS!

Re: Am I a candidate for VBAC??

I have very similar story with GD, and working alot before giving birth... thought about VBAC for next child but live in a small town, and would have to go out of town to have baby, wondering if it is worth it, or go with the conveince of having a hospital just a few blocks away.
