The pools here, family pools to be exact, are textile optional. My kids have seen young and old, thin and full figured all happily enjoying their time at the pools. They aren't bothered by it at all....they don't stare or think of it as sexual.
I agree

I went and looked more into it after this thread. The articles I read Friday were grossly misleading and took some very liberal artistic listening. I am more upset by that than anything in VS.

Wh, wh, wh, WHAT! ? The media is biased and misleading? You must be mistaken...they can only report the truth, right?

Re: WTH Victoria's Secret????????

I actually do not have a problem with it. As a mother I can guide my daughter to appropiate choices and if as a junior/senior in high school and or collage she wants to wear a certain type of underware that is her decission.

FWIW-- I wore way more sexy underware/bra's in my junior/senior year of high school and collage than I do now. and didn't have sex till I was 24 and to married. I loved VS stuff.

I don't get the uproar. Everyone on the planet knows that VS sells sexy undergarments and to sell undergarments the models kinda need to be in them. They would look really stupid modeling underware over regular clothing.

Lol. I get your point. My upset came from them saying something was a direct quote and it was their version. And I knew I should have looked into it more. That's the main reason I didn't come running to post this.

Seriously though, I like pretty undies. I would be happy to buy said pretty undies from a store that didn't have larger than life, half naked women writhing on their ad posters. VS isn't the sole problem, rather they are just another facet of commercialism/advertising that over sexualizes women. Everything from jeans to cologne to soap seems to be so highly sexualized. Do I try to keep my kids away from it, of course. But we still have to leave the house and this garbage is everywhere.

It just doesn't bother me.

As far as the comparison of a nude person at the pool sticking her butt in ones DHs face, how is that the same? Does your DH walk up to the VS picture in the mall and stick his face in her butt? I assume not, he would just see it in passing. Just like at the pool.
Ladies at the pool don't actually do that to him or my sons. That was my point. I don't think that happens often IRL I can honestly say I've never once seen a woman stick her digitally enhanced butt in my husband, or my sons face, while giving them a dontchawantsomeofthis look while they walked past her at the pool.

The larger than life photos did do that at the mall.

FTR, our VS is located directly across from the food court at our mall. If you plan to eat, than the larger than life photos are in the face of someone in your family. It can be mine, if I am the one having to sit facing them, or it can be my sons. We can of course also choose to walk past VS and the food court and eat elsewhere. That was the choice we made yesterday.

And imho, soft **** is women posing seductively/provocatively in various stages of undress. According to a discussion long ago with my husband, photos like that can actually be more of a turn on than seeing a completely naked woman. He may be alone in that thought. I haven't asked around to find out.

The mental image of men going up to vs and sticking their faces onto the butts of the pictures is just priceless...ahhh over active tired imagination is fun.
