The new ones do if you get the newborn insert.

Re: Do you have a carseat? What is it?

We got a Combi Coccoro because it was the only seat that would fit three across in our Jetta. We live 3.5 hours from any baby stores, so I ordered and returned about 7 car seats online. If I had the room in my car (front to back space), I'd get a Diono Radian because they last until booster age. My 5.5 year old is still riding in hers, and so is my almost 3 year old.

We have a Combi Shuttle 33 and I love love love it.

Easy to adjust and clean. The head rest thing slides. I'm obsessed with this seat!!! I'm so sad my DS is only 4.5m and already 20lbs and 28in!

I have the chicco keyfit 30 for my car. Dh has the evenflo symphony for his.
I really like the latch system that both have. Even though I will have to use the belt to install in the center seat. We don't want to have to move seats between our two cars so we decided to go ahead and get a convertible for dh's. they both have great reviews.

Re: Do you have a carseat? What is it?

I looked at the Safety First Onboard Air, Graco Snugride 35 and the Chicco Keyfit.....Keyfit - too expensive for me. Safety First - couldn't wash the cover in the machine. All 3 got GREAT reviews, but I got the Graco Snugride 35 from AlbeeBaby.com for $109 shipped. It's got great reviews, convenient for us since it can be washed in the machine, good weight range......

If you don't need the carrier, I have heard great things about the Graco MyRide 65 and the Safety First True Fit Premier. I have the later to use after this baby outgrows his carrier. Got it brand new on Ebay for less than $100. I have been using it as a spare seat in DH's car for my 2.5 DD. It has a rebound bar that helps keep the seat(when rear facing) more firmly in place in the event of an accident.

Hope that helps.

we love it and it's sooo soft and cute and SO easy to clean, AND I love how once installed in the car it doesn't budge it's super sturdy!

PS - if you have big babies go for a convertible one!!
Even with a bigger baby, not all convertibles (even though they're rated from 5lbs) will fit a newborn baby well.

I've heard the same about the new ones, as long as you have the insert. The old ones, or the new without inserts, definitely don't fit newbies well.

Oh, I'm jealous! I wish so much we had the coccoro up here! I'd totally splurge and get it, even though it's smaller - that seat!

That's what we've always done when we had the infant seat - used it in the van, which we use all the time, and a convertible for the car for the few times we need it (although we don't use the convertible until baby is big enough to fit properly).

Freakin hate that our car seat prices are so much higher up here. There's NO darn reason for it, other than "canadians will pay more"
that same snugride is $220.
The true fit is $230. And, fwiw, it's not safety first, it's made by "learning curve" or "the first years" (same company).

Re: Do you have a carseat? What is it?

Well, my friend bought the Peg Perego and hated it so much. It's super heavy and awkward to carry. It was so bad that she's using her old expired Graco...

I have a Keyfit from my sister that I will use for the first few months, and then we will switch to the Radian. Loved the Radian last time around! It's so much easier to get baby in and out because it doesn't have high sides. And from what I know, it easily fits small newborns.

I had asked on the car seat board here, and got a few photos of newbies in the radian - fits really well! I'm assuming you'd definitely need the infant inserts for it as well, but all but the cheapest version has those.
I've seen a really great fit on a 7lb newbie, and my newbs have all been bigger than that by at least a lb+, so I think we're good.

We love our snugride35 so much from DS that we are using it again.

DS's convertibles are the Britax Marathon70 and the True Fit.

Once baby is in those, I plan to move DS into a Frontier. He is already 39" and 35 lbs at 2 1/2.
