I hope it is short-lived too! Shortness of breath is probably the worst thing about late pregnancy IMO...it just made me so claustrophobic!

I am happy to hear I am not the only one freaking out over it... I have a hard time telling if it is normal pregnancy issues or part of the heart medication that they increased - I hate pills Thank goodness we have central air because I could not handle a summer of heat feeling like this!

Re: so.short.of.breath

Oh man, I'm having the worst time as well! I can just be sitting and feel as though I held my breath or something, and I feel I can't even catch my breath! I have to go to college, and I have to walk across a huge parking lot, then across the building, up 3 flights of stairs, and down another hall. I'm so out of breath by the time I get there holding my 1/2 ton backpack of books and notes that it's embarrassing!

i don't remember being this short of breath with dd... she was always super "low" though and I feel like "bump' is much higher with this little guy for sure. I seriously can't even eat without getting winding and yes feeling panicky! ha so glad to know I have friends walking in similar shoes. Wondering if it will get any better otherwise the next half this pregnancy is gonna be long. haha. however I am still just happy happy happy being preggers!!!

I believe you work in the medical field if memory serves correct but are you sure it is just shortness of breath? It isn't mild asthma, right? My asthma flared a bit more with DS and I used my inhaler more throughout than I felt that I have needed to this time. Anyway, pregnancy commonly makes asthma worse. It is just a thought. Generally, OBs want you using your inhaler over not being able to breathe so it might be worth talking to your OB or midwife about.

Re: so.short.of.breath

I am easily winded but I wouldn't say I am short of breath regularly. I just haven't been able to do much in this pregnancy so therefore I am easily winded.

However yesterday I walked to a nearby store and I did well. Maybe I am starting to get better?
