Making a sewing pattern. Help :)

I'm using some template plastic to make templates for cloth pads. I've never made my own template/pattern before and was curious if it's best include seam allowance in the template... Or just cut the seam allowance freehand so then my trace lines become sewing lines when it's time to sew? Which is best for consistency?

If I know I'm consistently going to need the same seam allowance, I prefer to include it in my pattern.

My sewing machine has a "measuring gauge" an the needle plate. I include my seam allowances and just follow my needle plate to get the right seams.
