Needing shampoo and conditioner bar recommendation

Hi mamas! Who do you buy your shampoo bar and conditioner bars from? I'm wanting to give these a try. I'm just fed up with buying commmercial shampoos and getting super-dyed goo. I've tried no-poo and the baking soda/ACV methods but wasn't able to do those. The no-poo didn't work at all, and the BS/ACV was a PITB! I just need something that works that I don't have to make! I have fine hair, but it's long and there is a lot of it! It also gets greasy/oily within 18 hours so I have to wash every day. And I do need a conditioner or it will dry out super fast! Thanks!

I looooooove www.va-soaps.com products ! I have been amazed at everything I've tried. I use the shampoo bars for DD4. And I just got their conditioner bar, turned it into a cream AND into a detangler spray. Cannot believe how much it made!!! Seriously in love.

I love love Happy Hausfrau products. Hhsoap.com. The owner is a member here (cdAuntie) and she has coops on here (usually hosted by Lorikep). Both she and Lori are awesome to work with and the products really work! The shampoo is a syndet bar- not a soap, but she has a whole explanation about why that's the type of shampoo bar she offers and how it's still gentle and I can say from personal experience that it is the best shampoo and conditioner I've ever used! I also love how the owner goes out of her way to be environmentally responsible. She uses recyclable packing materials, sources as many ingredients as she can locally, uses fair trade, organic oils, and sells many items in a concentrated form so she isn't shipping water all over the place.

Re: Needing shampoo and conditioner bar recommendation

Fwiw, I have fine hair and have found the several shampoo bars I tried to be disastrous. I ended up using them as shaving bars (although, truth be told, they're really not good for that either). I gave up on the bar idea and am using natural bottled products and expect to continue on that track. However, when I explained my difficulties w/ shampoo bars here, HH was recommended; apparently b/c she is not as natural (however you want to phrase it; you can read her explanation) as some, it is safer for fine hair that doesn't usually take to the bar formulations.

Re: Needing shampoo and conditioner bar recommendation

There's a huge explanation, but what it boils down to is that the PH of your average soap is way too high for hair. This is why syndet bars are superior, in my opinion.

When I first started making shampoo, I cringed at making syndet because the were less natural, but I have still managed to use all veggie-derived surfactants that are extremely gentle and I still keep out all the yucky parabens

I didn't know this thread was here until someone linked me to it, so I may not be back to check, but I'm happy to chat about shampoo bars (or any other products) if you want to PM
