Delayed vaxing...

We have been thinking about doing delayed vaxing with our little one and I was just curious if any other delayed vaxing parents have anyngood resources on what ones we should do when. I have seen all kinds of different info and I just want some advice on what other families use for a vax schedule... Thanks!!!

Re: Delayed vaxing...

we have delayed with only #3 and now with the new baby. I wasnt educated enough before hand.
my newly turned 2 year old has gotten the HIB series, Prenvar series, Dtap series and 1 polio. she has a 2 year apt in 2 weeks and will get another polio. we dont do flu, or rotovirus and i will wait for chicken pox before school age.

We delayed vax. I like the Dr Sears book. I forget what it is called.

We do not get the Hep shot at the hospital so we delay that. And I pretty much go on a delayed/selective vax routine.

Re: Delayed vaxing...

I hate fighting this battle with my hubby.

Hopefully we will be more selective this time, but he's already made a 1 month appointment only to get shots... =(

Re: Delayed vaxing...

We delay all vaccines until 6 months and only ever do 1 at a time. Then I start with DTAP (4), PCV (3), HIB (2), then HEP B (2).

I've heard good things about the Dr Sears book - that it's very informative, but not biased, just the facts and pros and cons of each vaccine. I think he offers a selective/delayed schedule idea in there too?

I was planning on delaying DD2, but it has ended up that she will be a non vax'd kid. Every time I have made an appointment for her, she gets some kind of cold. I take that as my cue to stay away from vaccines. This baby won't be vax'd either.

Yes, The Vaccine Book is great by Dr. Sears. It has selective vac and delayed schedule options.

That's what I thought I've heard! I haven't read it myself, though.
