Re: April UYS chatter thread

We are really big DIYers as well, we only hire help if we absolutely have to... like we needed some MAJOR rewiring done, we had a friend help us for the cost of a case of beer. Hubby kind of knew what he was doing but wanted to make sure he had it right (we had a wiring nightmare when we moved in here, almost lost our house to it!). We try to do everything on our own though.

I should be doing some sewing.. in my new sewing room. We moved my 2 antique machines there a bit ago. Oh yeah I got another old machine. It's a 1929 electric Singer. I really just saw the table and chair and wanted them for my 80s Kenmore machine.. but then I discovered the "desk" I was looking at had a working beauty inside it.

Newest old machine.. can you believe I paid $45 for the machine/table and chair?

The Room....(ignore the mess in the first pic, it was as soon as hubby was done hanging trim out there, the colors are "decadant brownie" and a cream color that I forget.. but looks yellow in the light).

Hey guys!

I could have sworn I posted my information on the goals page on Thursday before I left for my vacation and can't find it

Re: April UYS chatter thread

I LOVe that table and chair!! And to find a working sewing machine inside..wow...that is super exciting!!

I did a couple odd jobs this morning. I made a stained long-sleeve shirt of my dd's, and turned it into a short sleeve shirt with a good looking double hem. I was so proud of myself! I normally would have just thrown it away (the sleeves were covered in paint and a serious mess)- but I gave it a shot, and now it is a cute short sleeved shirt, and no one will be able to tell it was ever a long sleeve.

Then, I also shortened some straps on a shirt of mine. I have such a hard time finding under shirts that aren't turtlenecks but are high enough to not show my chest when bending over...I took one of my favorites that was too short (so I wore an undershirt UNDER the undershirt ) And it looks like it should be high and tight enough for me to just wear as an undershirt now. Which is awesome- because it has pink and orange ruffled flowers on the top (why I bought it even though I knew it was too short- I love it!)

So I haven't made anything, but I am still really happy with that so far. Also- if that shortening straps thing ends up working out, I now don't have to spend a ton on shirts that I don't like anyway for under shirts!!

I haven't done much this past week. With DH home, I feel like I get so much less accomplished.

Re: April UYS chatter thread

lol.. it's so much easier to girlify boyish things too.... you poor mama!

Spring has finally hit here so I spent most of today just sitting outside enjoying the fresh air. It was so calming to be able to be out and not freeze.... I needed that.

The table and chair... my goodness I know I love them. I'm afraid to sit my fat butt on the chair, but it is so pretty.
