Is Teething Really Like This??

Please tell me it gets better. My 6 month is cutting his first teething, last night he was up every 40 mins, would only nurse down. I'm so sleep deprive, he usually sleeps mostly through the night. AND each morning he is fully waking 15 mins earlier, he now up to 5:45. Anybody else going through this or is a survivor of this teething phenomenon?

Are you sure he doesn't have an ear infection also? My dd got an ear infection with her first teeth and a Ted just like that. Sleeping was the worst. She has 10 teeth now and none have been as bad as the first ones.

hmmm I'm not sure how to tell, he doesn't have a fever and he nurses on both sides fine. Should I be looking for some other signs of an ear infection?

Have you tried giving motrin? Worked great for my son while teething. He slept much better.

It was a life saver for us. Nothing worse and more annoying than severe mouth pain. I bet he will be much better with it.

Welcome to the horrors of teething :/ try some meds and just give them what they want, poor babies are in so much pain! It's really hard as the mama to get through it, try to nap when the lo naps so you can get some rest too.

We never had these problems unless there was an ear infection. Teething, our ped said it was ok to give pain meds - it was either ibuprofen or tylenol, can't remember..ask yours. Worked like a charm!

Yep - teething can be like that. Dd1 was up a ton when she was getting a tooth unless we gave her a bedtime dose of motrin (not tylenol, it did nothing). With motrin she'd have a pretty decent night. Dd2 breezed through teething. Ds was a horrid teether. He was up all the time, was fussy all day and night. In general was not pleasant to be around. Motrin, tylenol, amber, teething tablets, etc - nothing helped. He was just miserible. Teething can mean different things to different kids.
