um.. yeah! I think I made something like that back when I was a high school summer babysitter back in the early 90's!

I'm sorry

although, I think around here, somewhere around $3 an hour is normal for inhome day care providers.. so I don't know if that's more comparable to what you're doing.

You work full time all month for $540?? Is that normal for a nanny in your area? Sounds way underpaid to me!

Wow, I made $350 a week in '00. You need a raise.

OP, we paid $7 an hour for our two, and rounded up to the nearest 5. Now with 3, we expect to pay $10. Our babysitters are 17 and 19.

That's crazy. However, for Jacksonville it's not a surprise.

When I baby-sat in the area long ago I made $10 an hour for one child. I was surprised since most people want to pay next to nothing.

Wow. All the day care centers around here are $50-60 a day per child. Nannies on Care.com are usually asking for $14-16 an hour. Even the in home daycares charge at least $150-200. My neighbor is $250 a week per child (but she only takes 1-2 kids at a time so your kid gets great care).

$10 an hour seems to be the going rate here for high school kids. $11 for college.

Re: High school babysitter pay

I pay 10$ an hour to whoever we use, regardless of age. I have 2 children currently who are 3 and 5. When I started using sitters DD2 was under a year but STTN. Often we would only use a sitter if we were going out to a night club, otherwise, for Dinner we use my mom or best friend. We are having a new baby soon and will up the pay to 12$ an hour for all 3, of course no late night sitting, only for a few sanity hours out.

My daycare center charges 32$ a day for children over 2. I can drop my kids off at 7 am and get them at 5:30. I never understood how she could financially do that!

I pay $10 an hour during waking hours and $5 an hour once they are asleep. We tend to go out after our littles go to sleep and pay one of our teens to babysit. That way we are still putting them to bed at 7pm

Re: High school babysitter pay

I generally pay between $8-$10 per hour for a tern sitter. I have 3 kids, but they are 12, 9 and 8 so they simply need someone to make sure that the house doesn't burn down. I take how long we are gone and round up. Our go to sitter is 18. I have a couple of 15 year olds and when I paid that much, the mom made her return 1/2.
