Tons of prodromal.....

It's been 4 1/2 year since my last baby and with all this start and stop I'm nervous I'm not going to know when it's the real thing! Talk to me ladies tell me what, when and how you knew!

Re: Tons of prodromal.....

ddc I had a lot with my last two and this one as well (started earlier this time). With the first I felt the same way "how will I know" but something inside you KNOWS. Trust your body. Your body will tell you when it is time.

Good luck mama!

Re: Tons of prodromal.....

I had weeks and weeks of contractions with Levi that never progressed. I was so worried that I wouldn't know when it was real - but, somehow, I did. I can't even explain why or how... which makes me response kinda useless I guess, lol... but I just knew when I woke up to a contraction that this was the real thing.

I'm assuming the same thing this time - otherwise I could be in trouble, lol.

Re: Tons of prodromal.....

I had lots of prodromal labor with DS2 as well. Sometimes the contractions would be regular and I'd even have to breath through them. When it really was time, I knew. There was a difference. That said, his labor and delivery were FAST... I think all those weeks of BH contrax really toned my uterus or something

Definitely wasn't the case for me, with any of my babies! Maybe this time around

Re: Tons of prodromal.....

I had it for 10 days non stop with DD. They sent me home 3 times in the day and a half before I was finally admitted. I went walking and it was so bad I couldn't walk 15 feet without having to brace myself and rock and my mom kept saying its time to go and I said no because they would just send me home. I know now that when I can't talk through the contractions then its time to go.

For me, it's my water breaking.

But I agree with 'when you can't talk through them'. We didn't wait THAT long to go to hospital because we had an hour drive and didn't want contractions that horrible in the car.

But if you're closer to your hospital, talking through contractions is a good rule of thumb

Re: Tons of prodromal.....

Water breaking was my clue with DD, but then I haven't had SROM since! With the boys, we've ended up with AROM at 9-9.5cm!

Despite the fact that they were further apart and even sometimes but quite as regular as they were during the pre labor I knew because I couldn't walk through them or talk through them. But, I guess technically the couple hours before I got to that point was labor too I just didn't know for sure until that point.

Re: Tons of prodromal.....

I'm in the same boat as you mama! I'm on day 3 of prodromal labor so far... Was convinced on Tuesday it was the real thing, lost my plug, cx every 10, then 5 min for 60 secs each... and then it just stopped after about 8 hours, dilated to 4cm. It was very frustrating! I'm a VBAC hopeful, so my midwives sent me home and to wait until real labor, or after my due date (Saturday) for any interventions.

Just trying to keep my mind busy since then, and hope that I will "know" when it happens!
