Hi mamas!
My son, Caleb Peter was born yesterday Saturday April 6th at 5:56 pm.
He was 10lbs 1oz , 22 inches long at birth. My labor was great, I will add a birth story soon...

we are home now (4/8) is a pic with my 4 yr. old holding Caleb:

Here is my birth story:

On Saturday I was having some contractions starting at about 5:30am. They were more painful than regular BH, but very spaced out- sometimes 25 min apart, but sometimes 15 minutes. This basically continued all morning until around 1 or 2pm- they were more regular (about 12-15 min) and they did hurt. But they were still fairly short. At 3pm they were more like 10 min apart and hurting more- I knew it was time to head out. We called our babysitter and she was there by 3:30. We called the doctor and my doula and left for the hospital.

I think we arrived at the hospital around 3:45pm. They checked me at triage and I was 4cm dilated. I was having contractions that were not pleasant, several I had while sitting on the toilet. I asked for the anesthesiologist to come as soon as possible for the epidural. So they actually sent me to a labor/delivery room where I was put on the monitor. They also gave me an IV and finally the anesthesiologist came. My doula arrived just before this. I was a big scared baby, but it only took about 10 min. to put it in. I think at around 4:30pm the epi was taking effect & they checked me again- I was 7-8cm. My water broke in the hospital bed right around that time too. The nurse wanted to call my doctor to make sure he got there in time. The epidural gave me some relief, it was great, but I was still uncomfortable because of the baby's position.

Shortly, the nurse was telling me it would not be long before I gave birth. I didn't believe her really, but soon I felt pressure and she told me to lay on my left side because my OB was still 10 min. away. I could feel the baby coming down and had to blow away the contractions for a while. I pushed the button to administer more epidural around that time but the nurse was like "that's not going to help much at this point, but you can press it" LOL. When my doc finally arrived to deliver the baby I turned onto my back and pushed maybe 4 times. He was born at 5:56pm. They put little Caleb to my chest right away without having cut the cord. I was so incredibly relieved for it to be over and to be seeing him, it was surreal to me. Overall, everything went so well, we are all enjoying our little (big) guy <3
