Eek! Bad Acne!

My 10 year old all of a sudden has started getting bad acne. What would you suggest trying? He seems like he needs something pretty decent because it isn't just one, over the course of a week hes gotten several all over his face. I am hoping I can find something gentle and safe though because he is kind of young and I am worried about him getting it in his eyes or it being too strong for him. I bought him the yellow clean and clear stuff in the bottle (a couple months ago when one or two started happening) but I see more popping up and no relief. He is becoming embarrassed and I feel for him. Any suggestions!?

Re: Eek! Bad Acne!

The only thing I have ever found to work is Benzoyl Peroxide. 2% should be strong enough, any higher and it drys out your skin and actually makes acne worse. Also make sure his pillow case is washed every couple days. I would also wonder if the face wash is making it worse. I found most face washes made my acne worse. I was better off washing with just water and a wash cloth. Thyme is also supposed to be very good for treating acne. Just mix it with some water and use it as a scrub or mask.
The site acne.org is a wealth of information. It has reviews on every possible treatment for acne. But I suggest just trying one new thing at a time and giving it a few weeks to see the results.

Thank You Chandni! I'll check it out. We just got done flushing his eye out. He was getting ready for bed and got some of that junk in his eye. Exactly why I was wary of using clean and clear. Poor kid. I was going to try something new (let him pick from honey or AC vinegar) but he wasn't paying attention to me. BOYS!
