Re: What size clothing did your full-term LO come home in?

DS was 7#6oz at 37 weeks and came home in baggy NB. the twins were 6#14 and 6#11 at 39 weeks and came home in NB... I think I put one preemie on each of them and preemie was too small and NB was too big for all of them.

Re: What size clothing did your full-term LO come home in?

I said newborn and 0-3 because while I don't remember exactly which size the largest came home in (she was 9 lb 3 oz and 21.5" long) I know she could wear newborn for the first couple weeks at least. She was the largest of my babies. The smallest was 7 lbs 12 oz.

DS1 was 9lbs 8oz and wore 0-3 months. DS2 was just over 10 lbs. I think he wore home a 3-6 month outfit, but it could have been 6-9 months. He was a super chunk who only dropped 2oz in the hospital and was up to 18 lbs by 8 weeks. Lol. It also depends on what brand it is too. Some run really small and some are bigger.

Re: What size clothing did your full-term LO come home in?

DS was born at 41wks & wore nb. He weighed 8.5lbs & was 20in long. but his head was too big for the nb hats that came in our birth kit (homebirth), so we had to break out the 0-3m Zutano beanies.

DD was born at 37wks & wore pm. She only weighed about 5.5 lbs & was 18in long. she fit perfectly in Zutano itzy bitzy

My son was 8 pounds, 9 ounces and came home in this 3-6m all cotton romper from Gap:

It fit him perfectly. I think babies look so gorgeous in white.

The one I gravitate to, though, is 3-6mo. Is there any chance baby will fit that at birth? MIL says DH wore 6-9mo home from hospital, and he was under 9 pounds. That seems really odd to me. I was 8lb9oz but I have no idea what size I wore.

Haven't read the other responses, so I'm sure you've got this by now, but your MIL is crazy. I have had 7lbs6oz and 8lbs4oz and they were both in newborn. My 15.5 lbs skinny, average length 7 month old is fitting in both 3-6 mo and 6-9 mo clothes right now. Some are getting too short in length. So unless you are having a 15+ lb really tall newborn (I hope not!), even a very large newborn would be in 0-3 mo.

My new DS is 8 days old. He was 39wks3d and 7lbs 8oz and 20 1/2". He is still in Preemie. He lost 3oz and that was it. Skinny legs and arms.

All three of our children came home in NB

DS was 6lbs 15oz (so 1 oz shy of 7lbs)
DD was 6lbs 12 oz
DD#2 was 6lbs

Re: What size clothing did your full-term LO come home in?

38 weeks 6lb8 oz-Preemie
35 weeks 5lb9oz- Preemie
40 weeks 7 lb 2oz- Preemie
I highly doubt that there is any newborn that would fit well in 6-9 months unless they were over 12lbs or something. I think 0-3 is a safe bet as even big newborns are not terribly wide. Your MIL likely is not remembering correctly. She has grandma's disease. She will also tell you how her children slept 7-8 hours at 2 days old and they were eating solids at 6 weeks.
