Re: What size clothing did your full-term LO come home in?

DD was 41wks, 7lbs 2oz and 20" long. She went home in a nb outfit, but would have fit preemie clothes better (for about 1 day). She wore nb clothes for abt 3 wks, then moved into 0-3/3mths clothing for another month. She moved into 3-6/6mths clothing at 7wks.

DS was 40wks 6days, 8lbs 7oz, and 21" long. He went home in a perfectly fitting nb outfit. He wore nb clothes for 1.5 wks, then moved to 0-3/3mths clothing until 5 wks old. Then he moved to 3-6/6mths clothing.

FWIW we brought a 0-3 mth outfit with us to the hospital both times but it was just TOO huge for the "going home" pics, so they went home in nb clothes. I almost sent my parents to the store to get a preemie outfit for DD b/c even the nb one looked SO big on her.

DD was born at 39 wks and her newborn gown was so big on her. She could have worn preemie.

She was 6lbs 1oz at birth.

Re: What size clothing did your full-term LO come home in?

(I chose newborn) All of them wore newborn for the first few weeks of their lives, although they might have worn 0-3 home from the hospital. They weighed: #1 (born @39 weeks)-7lbs13oz., #2 (born @ 39w4d)-7lbs.15oz., #3 (born @ 40 weeks)-7lbs11oz., and #4 (born @ 39 weeks)-8lbs.15oz.

The one I gravitate to, though, is 3-6mo. Is there any chance baby will fit that at birth? MIL says DH wore 6-9mo home from hospital, and he was under 9 pounds. That seems really odd to me. I was 8lb9oz but I have no idea what size I wore.

my mil insists that my husband was wearing 18 month old clothing from day one. She continues to buy clothes that are too big for my son. My theory is that clothes were cut smaller back then or it was a status thing to have your children in big clothes???

Anyway, my 9.10lber was in nb clothing for 2 weeks and then 0-3 month clothing for 3 months. I would go with nb clothing. It will fit well and will look very cute for the photo shoot. If the photo shoot is however a few weeks after the lo is born I would get nb and 0/3 months jic.

DD born at 40wks 3 (or 4) days and weighed 6lbs 7oz. She wore Preemie.
DS born at 39+4 and also weighed 6lbs 7oz, also wore Preemie.

With my first I only had one Preemie outfit that a friend had bought after she was born. I was told (by my doctor) a week before my due date that she was already over 7lbs. She was swimming in size NB.
My second, I expected him to be bigger so I also only had one Preemie outfit but he too swam in NB.
I'm pregnant now and I definitely will be getting more Preemie outfits.

Re: What size clothing did your full-term LO come home in?

My babies were both 41 weekers. First was 8 lbs 12 oz and second was 9 lbs 5 oz. Even at those sizes, they were both swimming in 0-3 month clothes for the first week or two. They both went home in newborn clothes that fit perfectly but mostly wore too-big 0-3 month clothes after coming home (no way was I spending money on outfits that would only fit for 1-2 weeks!). I think there would be no way a newborn would wouldn't look ridiculous in 3-6 month clothes unless it was like a 15 pound baby!

Re: What size clothing did your full-term LO come home in?

All my kids wore newborn for the first few weeks... except my ODS. He was 9lbs3oz, and long and he wore 3/6 mo stuff immediately. He was just a big boy. He was in 12 mo stuff by 6 wks.

the other 3 kids all ranged in sizes from 7.5lbs - 8.5lbs and all wore NB the first few wks.

Re: What size clothing did your full-term LO come home in?

It depends on how your baby is built. My son was 8 lbs, 3 oz, and skipped newborn entirely, he started in 0-3 months. Newborn clothes just wouldn't fit over his broad shoulders and chest, and the onesies were too short to snap. But I have heard of heavier babies fitting into newborn .

YDD was 8 lbs 5 oz and fit in nb clothing for about 5 weeks. DS was 8 lbs 8 oz and never fit in nb. ODD was 7 lbs 4 oz and was in nb for 2 months or so.
