I use pure Shea butter, coconut oil, and beeswax. The beeswax seems to keep it a little more solid. I also make lotion bars for my hands

Re: Homemade lotion?

I've begun mixing melted coconut oil and cocoa butter in the winter, adding EOs, and pouring it into a dedicated silicone ice cube tray. In the summer I plan to stick with pre-made lotions, partially b/c I don't want something so heavy (and I dislike coconut oil by itself). I find lotion bars really clumsy to use. I only do this to save some money. So I would not personally "waste" my organic beeswax on making something that I find clumsy to use anyhow. There are natural lotion recipes out there, but whenever you are adding water or liquids (as you must for lotions), it is much harder to keep things from harboring bacteria. Expect to mostly likely have to refrigerate your body butter or whatever you make and to have to use it quickly. I didn't have the supplies handy for any of those recipes to try them, but good luck!

In craft chat there's a thread about this. It's kind of dead at the moment, but come join!
