The early pregnancy crazy strikes again--question

(Cross-posted in DDC) Following a year of fertility treatment, I'm pg. The RE's office confirmed 2 sacs & 2 hbs at least week's u/s , but I go in weekly until they release me around 8-10 weeks.

How alarmed should I be that both sacs are measuring behind? The nurse tried to be reassuring, said both heartbeats look good, she wants to try to hear the heartbeats with a doppler next week, to contact my OB's office for my first appointment with them in a few weeks, & that the margin of error w/ early u/s is +/- 4d...but I'm 7w0d today & the u/s measurements were 6w3d & 6w2d I know that if I'm just going on what the nurse said, I should relax. But I don't like to be unprepared for bad news. Should I have a cup of tea & calm down or am I allowed to get my worry on for this? I know it's hard to measure little things accurately, but it seems like that's kind of a lot behind for so early.

ETA: Excuse me for the crazy, but this is all new to me!

You have 2 healthy heartbeats! This is what matters. Is it possible that you just conceived a few days later than you thought? Congratulations!

I know the heartbeats are a fantastic sign, but I make myself crazy b/c of my previous mc & the ablity to read every possible horror story on DS No real way to mistake conception date w/IVF, though.

Re: The early pregnancy crazy strikes again--question

Congrats!

FWIW, here are my stats:
8 week ultrasound - measured behind by 5 days
12 week ultrasound - measured behind by 6 days
16 week ultrasound - measured ahead by 9 days
20 week full anatomy scan - measured ahead by 2 days
Birthweight one day after due date - 7 lbs 7 oz

My friend at my old job had twins and measured exactly one week behind the entire first 20 weeks, then went to measuring farther behind as twins are often smaller.

All this to say, I haven't BTDT, but I'd think you are probably okay.

OT to this point-
Was this the cause of your massage "injuries"? I always felt bad after I posted in that thread that it happened to me on new meds or newly pg but realized after the fact I remembered you were TTC and always felt like I should apologize to you... so... I'm sorry

Re: The early pregnancy crazy strikes again--question

No, no, no need to apologize at all. I think when I got the massage I had just stopped the Gonal-F & Lupron (right before the retrieval, obvs) & had seriously just started the baby aspirin & progesterone...but I'd been on all of those before when I'd gotten a massage, so I didn't figure it was the meds. I'm pasty white pale & do bruise pretty easily in general (seriously, I practically glow in the dark), but that massage gave me crazy bruises...they went away really quickly, though. I did have the massage the day of my transfer, though

My crazy worrying is even worse than normal, b/c DP is all nervous, too, which just sets me off...like, my initial betas were great, doubling about every 35 hrs. DP's answer was, "Are sure it's okay & not some weird molar thing?" So yeah, she makes me worry more than I normally would, which is still a lot.

Re: The early pregnancy crazy strikes again--question

Feeding off your spouse's fears is always kind of evil because the same implicit trust you use in the rest of your relationship somehow validates their fears even if they are irrational. (Or maybe that's just my relationship )

Are you in a position with your caregivers at this time, and are they direct, where you could get an honest, statistical answer on what it means to have two sacs measuring behind by those exact amounts? Probably a ridiculous question, but just asking anyways.

Sit down with a cup of tea and relax! I have always heard - from multiple OBs - that a good heartbeat is the best indicator of a healthy pregnancy. Easier said than done, of course.

Congrats!

Congratulations

I think like previous posters a strong heartbeat is a better indicator than size.

Try to realax.

you have to remember that ultrasound is not fool proof. its not an exact. but on top of that 2 babies may not grow as fast cause that requires more work for your body so we tend to see twins a bit smaller. sounds normal to me.
let me just say, you are so lucky- 2 babies is amazing congrats
