Balance bike for toddler

So Jammy and I nipped into REI to escape the rain, and she became enamoured with a balance bike (riding in her seat on my bike is one of her favourite things to do). Her 2nd birthday is in a month's time, so I thought a bike might be a good present candidate, but first I've got a list of questions to ask you dear ladies (and the odd gentleman*) .

1. Is 2 too young to really get the hang of it? She's not athletic at all, and I'd love to encourage her to be a bit more... physical and co-ordinated with her body, but I don't want to push her. Would she get more out of it at her 3rd birthday, for instance?

2. She's pretty short - are there any balance bikes that have a low or adjustable seat?

3. Wood or metal?

TIA!

*Not that the gentlemen are in any way odd. Or odder than we ladies.

Nope, 2 isn't too young at all. DS LOVES his Strider! Highly recommend it.

We have a Strider too and love it! Take a look at the website because they have different height options.

Go for it! DD started at 2 because that's when we bought hers. DS started riding at 15 months, and loves it! He is 22 months now and cruises laying on his handlebars for an extra thrill!

I think wood or metal doesn't matter. We have wood. It's worked great. The metal ones are nice too. For the wood one, it was too tall for both kids so we took the big wheels off and put rollerblade wheels on until they were tall enough.

Balance bikes are amazing!

Just check your daughter's inseam against the height of the seat. We purchased Gigi's push bike when she was 18 months (used at a bicycle shop I might add) but I have come to realize now, years later, just how uncommonly tall she was back then. My 50th height percentile 21 month old son cannot use that bike yet. Soon, but not quite yet.

When we purchased it, Gigi was super excited. We got her riding gloves and a helmet, and she just loved suiting up for a ride. That year, it took her longer to get dressed and out of the house for the ride than the ride itself. But all that first year prepared her for the next - she was zipping around like a pro the following year. I'm glad we purchased it when we did.

My DS got a Strider for his 2nd birthday after a couple months I could not keep up with him unless jogging. He is also on the short side, but the strider had a low enough seat level and is very adjustable. Love it!

Balance bikes are great! We got my son a wood one when he was two. When he was four years old he started riding a pedal bike with no training wheels- we didn't even have to help him do it. He just hopped on and started pedaling- I attribute this to his riding the balance bike every day for two years!

Got DD1 a Strider for her 2nd birthday. She got the hang of it within days and now at 3 runs on it. We love it. It was a great purchase and we'll get DD2 one this summer.

I originally wanted wood, but read up on it and decided on metal - cant remember why now.

Don't know about height. But most of them will tell you how low they can be adjusted.

They are awesome! Two is the perfect age to start IMO. If she is tiny the strider brand is the shortest I had read a million reviews and the metal seems the way to go.
