Re: Balance bike for toddler

We just got one for DD who is almost 2 and she loves it. Got the strider because it's really short (she's average height and it fits her fine). I also read that metal holds up better over time which is nice because it's an outdoors thing and we get a lot of rain.

As far as whether emotionally she's ready, I just see it as a fun thing. No pressure, it's there if she wants to use it she can. She hasn't actually sat on the seat yet... she just stands over it holding the handle bars and walks. And she's thrilled by just that and knows it's her bike.

We LOVED our strider. DS3 used one from 20 months to 3, when he learned a two wheeler.

Dd is getting it this summer as part of her birthday gift. I'm taping it off and painting it hot pink. Because girls like pink.

My DS LOVED his balance bike. DH was unimpressed UNTIL we got DS his first 2 wheel bike at 4. He's riding like its nothing and we never had to do training wheels. Learned in a day after the previous year had his balance bike.
Now DH agrees the balance bike was a great idea.

We just bought ds2 a strider as well! He's tried it once and he likes it. Can't wait for the weather to get nicer!

My DH was the same way- he thought I was weird for buying our son a balance bike until DS told my DH to take the training wheels off of his pedal bike and then started riding it like it was no big deal. I love when I'm right, lol.
