Possibly your body sending another surge of hormones to begin preparing you for labor - loosening up your pelvis and such.
Has baby dropped yet? With my first I felt similar shortly before he dropped farther into my pelvis, and then the crampy feelings took on a new description!

I got a lot of that at 38 weeks. Baby came at 40+1.

I think it's all just signs that things are moving in the right direction. But there are pretty much no real signs that labor is coming except water breaking and even then you might have to help jump start some contractions. Shoot someone on here posted that they stayed pregnant for like 2 weeks after their water broke, I think?

I find it's best to be in denial of labor starting. That way you won't be disappointed and you can relax.

Nah. I felt like that for 2 or so weeks with my last baby. I cramped horribly, and thought I would die. I think its fairly normal.

I know you're ready to have that baby out He/She'll will be here before you know it and then you'll be nostalgic about being pregnant lol. Try to just take one day at a time, pamper yourself, enjoy the last bit of pregnancy and get lots of rest. It's so exciting to look forward to that day you get to hold your baby, but it goes by so fast (I remember crying 2 days pp wishing I could go back to that amazing moment they held her up) so try to embrace the anticipation.

Re: crampy, lower back pain...

the cramping is pretty constant, and has been for two days now. ctx are happening, but very intermittent, and not close together, really. i can still talk through them. i'd say they happen every 20-40 minutes, on average. nothing close together at all. nothing too "abnormal" either, for me, even before the cramping started.

i guess my thing is, should i worry about the constant menstrual like cramping? not coming in waves, not going away.. just a constant dull ache, getting worse/more intense at times, like if i move, or need to pee.

No, I don't think you need to worry about the PMS feeling. I remember having that towards the end with my babies too. It's tiring! You can take some Tylenol to take the edge off, if you like, so that you can rest a little more easily.
It does mean that your body is getting ready, but it doesn't mean that it's necessarily happening soon, unfortunately.
