Re: Anyone dye their flats?

Dylon dyes work great!! There are also craft dyes at Walmart in the crafty section....they work great too....I just can't remember the brand...Tulip maybe. . I have used these on clothing and such and long ago and they work great and rinse out easily.

Want to do some for me too?? I want to do mine too, but never find the time.....I wouldn't be able to keep the kids out of he sink either so I would wind up with dyed kiddos too!

ETA: you are going to love flats!! If you get frustrated, come here and ask for help solving.....they are so nice!

avoid RIT, it's not color fast, dylon is great, or if you want to do a bunch, look at Dharma company website - they have a good way to help you choose your products, etc. It's what most professional dye artists use

Re: Anyone dye their flats?

I used Dharma Procion dyes for my flats 2 years ago. Loved the dye job but ended up not digging flats as diapers, so now they're kitchen towels - which get way more abuse here than diapers do - and they're still beautiful.

Re: Anyone dye their flats?

Do you know if FST would dye nicely? I am having trouble finding colored ones at my local Walmart and Target stores, so I thought maybe I could just dye some, but I have never dyed anything, not even tie-dye, so I am a bit scared!!

I used to dye dipes and other items as a WAHM. I used dharma dyes. Very colorfast, stays vibrant and true for the life of the fabric, and you get more dye for your dollar as a little goes a long way . My newbie is due in a few weeks, and I'm so looking forward to dyeing a few prefolds, some fst flats, and a bamboo stretchy wrap for him!
