Re: Formula/bottles

Always wash with hot soapy water after each use.
Think of it as you were refilling a bottle of cow milk over and over, even if its been left out, wouldn't get nasty?

Only if washed. Formula is supposed to be fed within one hour. It grows bacteria.

Re: Formula/bottles

Sounds like a recipe for food poisoning to me. Formula or any kind of milk spoils and pretty quickly. I've come home after a 4 hour work shift to find a bottle DH had not picked up and the milk was already starting to curdle in it. IMO if it's been more than 2 hours since it was filled it's time for a good wash or a fresh bottle. 3 hours on the far outside. When my oldest was that age I'd go through 5-6 bottles a day.

This. Its says on the formula to dispose of any not consumed within the hour due to bacteria- even if its been refrigerated. The bottle should be washed every time its emptied. Even rinses it isn't good enough. Rinse it then set it on the counter for a hour and so and take a look. Its got formula film all over it.

Re: Formula/bottles

That is not even close to being safe. I'm surprised he hasn't ended up very, very sick with that happening all the time. Any formula not consumed within an hour should be dumped and all bottle parts should be washed in hot, soapy water or in the dishwasher before being used again.

Definitely not okay. I'm Serve Safe Certified as a professional chef and anything that's been out of the'safe' temperature for more than 2 hours unsafe for anyone, more so for babies. Needs to be thoroughly washed every 2 hours.

Re: Formula/bottles

Not safe and soooo gross
We never reuse bottles at all . Rinsing them out and reusing them is gross to me. We use a new bottle every time. We scrub them with hot soapy water and boil all parts before we use them again.

I always wash bottles before they're used again and if we're home I take them apart and rinse them as soon as they're empty so they don't get nasty.
