How long before AF returned for you

And were you EBFing?

With my son, AF came back 4.5 months PP. However, right around that time, breastfeeding fell apart for us. Long story involving bad advice, scheduling, block feeding and nursing strikes, but he was supplemented with formula shortly after that (I don't think it was before?) and fully on formula before 5.5 months.

DD is just shy of six months. She is still EBF on demand, day and night. She doesn't sleep longer than about four hours at any point and usually it's shorter. She has never had a bottle. We just started including her at dinner and introducing solids but baby led weaning style, not purée, so she's really just getting a bit of flavour and enjoying playing, not eating anything.

Anyway, still no AF which is GREAT. But for the last several days to a week I've been having cramping and keep expecting it to be there. I guess it's probably about to show up, huh? I was hoping it would stay gone until DD was nursing less often (or weans completely)!

Anyone find that AF stayed away longer with one baby than with another or was it pretty comparable?

With each baby it came back sooner- 9 months for the first, then 8 months, then 6, and with the last, it came back around 6 months. All were EBF until they weaned as toddlers. I was hoping I would be one of those mamas who didn't see AF until baby weaned, but not so!

After #1 never had AF and #2 was born 12 months later.

After #2 and #3, it came about 7-8 months

After #4 it came back at 18 months

4, 9, and 11 months (though didn't ovulate until 13 months)

First had 4-6 bottles a week and used a pacifier while I worked. I pumped and we co-slept
Second refused bottles and a pacifier, but I still worked 2 days a week, he just only nursed when I was home.
third was ecologically breastfed, no bottles no pacifier, co-slept and napped

9 months with all 3. By the third one I expected it at 9 months. I wasn't disappointed. Well to be honest I was disappointed I was really hoping it might stay away longer.

My first BFing didn't really work out, and I pretty much got my first PP period on the heels of PP bleeding's end. My second is still nursing, started solids at 5 ish months, and I got AF back at 8.5 mos PP.

First baby, AF returned at 4 mos pp but we had BFing issues due to her palate size. Still nursing DD2 and no AF yet at 14 mos pp, even with solids in her diet now. I will say I have had cramping on and off for the last 3 mos so I wouldn't necessarily say its a sign of anything.

Re: How long before AF returned for you

I forgot to add my

dd was ebf until 5 1/2 months when we introduced solids. She continued nursing until close to 4 years of age.

ds1 was ebf until about 8 months of age when we managed to get him to eat some solids. He didn't actually eat any siginificant amount of solids though until close to 2 years of age. He continued to nurse until almost 4 years of age as well.

ds2 was ebf until around 10 months of age. He is now almost 2 years of age and still nursing. He also goes through periods where he is essentially ebf.

11 mos, 10 mos, 11 mos, 7 mos, 12 mos.

All were EBF, no supplementing with formula... All nursed to at least 12/13 months. All took pacifiers and all slept through the night between 5&1/2 and 13 weeks. Dd who took the longest to try solids was one that went 11 mos.
