Non-Toxic Sunscreen?

I'm very fair skinned and I FRY in the sun. My job gives me no choice but to spend a lot of time in the sun all summer. Any suggestions on a safer/ less chemical filled sunscreen?

We like Blue Lizard. It's one of the better price-points I've found for a physical sunscreen and it gets rave reviews. I buy the unscented one from Drugstore.com

I use coppertone pure and simple. They have four different sunscreens that score a 2 on ewg database. I like that its available locally and affordable.

easy to rub in would be a good bonus since I use it everyday. What is a 2 on a scale? Is there something I should be looking at? I remember some document that rated body products but I use so few of them I don't remember what it is or where I can find it. Link anyone?

I just read somewhere today that carrot seed oil has an spf of around 40 and red raspberry seed oil has an spf of up to 50! I don't know if there is any science to back that up but I'm planning to look into it. The article said to get the essential oil, mix it with a carrier oil and apply often.

The coppertone is thicker, but still rubs in easily imo.

Ewg rates skin care products. Harmful Chemicals found in them, etc. The lower the number the better.http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/browse.p...0&brand_id=768
