Playgroup Lunch Ideas

I am hosting my playgroup this week . Well the host is supposed to have a lunch/snack kind of thing for the kiddos. Everyone usually does chicken nuggets and french fries. Which I can understand since its easy and most kids will eat it. But I prefer something a little more healthy. Anyone have any lunch ideas that would be somewhat healthy but not a huge pain to prepare for about 8 kiddos?

buy some whole grain bagels, cut in 1/2, spread some spagetti/pizza sauce on them, add some diced tomatoes, sprinkle with shredded cheese and bake until cheese is melted.

mix whole grain elbow macaroni in 9x9 baking dish, mix with 1 jar alfredo sauce, 1 can (juice included) diced tomatoes, 1 can homany, 1 can sliced olives, bake @ 350 for 45 min, kids think they are getting mac & cheese but you've added in 3 veggies

veggie burgers on whole wheat bread w/carrot stick dippers

broccoli & cheese bites

whole wheat bread, slice of american cheese, several slices of apples, bake for 15 min

depending on the age of the kiddos, you can even let them make their own pizzas on the bagels or english muffins. This is usually what I do when dd has friends over for lunch.

I like to get my kids those lunchable type meals at the dollar store. Do you just have to feed the kids?

I thought you said play-ground. Sorry, play-group. lol

How 'bout toasted cheese. Or pancakes or frozen waffles? The kids I babysit like those or Mac and Cheese, in spite of my attempts to get them to eat other stuff!! lol

Re: Playgroup Lunch Ideas

Bagel chips with marina dip (instead of chips and salsa)

Freeze some stonybrook farms yogurt (like Gogurts) and cut in half - serve like popsicles - my DS thinks its ice cream

if feeding moms, too - cranberry chicken salad sandwiches on wheat cut into triangles - mayo, chicken, celery (diced super small), green onion(cut small),
salt and pepper to taste, and dried cranberries.

Iced Tea Raspberry Zinger tea by Celestial Seasoning lightly sweetened - most kids think it's Koolaid

Apple and cheese Quesadillas - Tortilla filled with Peeled thin sliced apples, cheese, and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar

Re: Playgroup Lunch Ideas

Thanks for all the great ideas. We did the bagel pizzas, forzen yogurts and I had some cut up fruits and veggies. Everything was a big hit. I think the kids liked it even more than the chicken nuggets and french fries
