Newborn fitteds/aio's?

Hi ladies,
I'm looking into making some newborn diapers and I really don't know where to begin. What patterns are your favorites and what materials do you prefer? I'm somewhat of a beginner and don't have a serger. Any recommendations are appreciated! Thanks!

Rocket Bottoms has a free newborn diaper pattern. It sews up super quickly, and I love the sizing/fit on it.

Re: Newborn fitteds/aio's?

I just made my first NB fitted and it turned out fantastically! The pattern I used is on the BrambleStitches blog. I used this pattern to make my NB covers and fitted. She includes the instructions on how to make them on her magazine (it's a free post though). I love this pattern because it includes sizes all the way up to toddler. I haven't tried them on LO yet since he's not due until June but they seem pretty true to size. For the covers, I used FOE since I don't have a serger and I really like the way the FOE gives the cover a "finished look". I don't have enough posts to include the links so I'll pm them to you. One will be for the pdf of the pattern and the other will be to the post with the instructions. I hope these help!

I just got the ddu pattern and looking forward to trying it. I'll check out the trimsies too! Yeah, I can't picture stuffing newborn pockets... Way to tiny! Lol!

Re: Newborn fitteds/aio's?

I really liked the DdU pattern and Arfy's NB/sm fitteds. I used stretchy knit and cotton fleece or cotton velour for inners. I made soakers that snap in or I would lay a premie prefolds on there. I used Bummis super brite covers and mini coveralls. Have you looked at mamakat's blog? She has links to all the newborn patterns and pictures of her baby at newborn, 2 months and 4 months wih mini reviews.
