My BFF had her little boy 11 days ago and it wasn't the easiest birth at all. Ended up in an emergency c section and she didn't get to hold him for about 6 hours. They had to stay in hospital for a week due to an infection but are home now.

She is having symptoms of pretty strong baby blues and I'm worried for her. She is nursing him and doing great that way. She describes herself as 'grey'. Anybody used vitamin D to kick baby blues before its goes full blown ppd? If so how much and how often?

Re: Baby blues and vitamin d

She should probably be taking vit D anyway. Rescue remedy might help some.

If she had her placenta encapsulated, she should be taking it. That's the best IME.

Otherwise, it might be good for her to go ahead and talk to her OB before it gets too bad, and at least get a rec for a good counselor. PPD doesn't usually just go away by itself.

Probiotics and fish oils, also. Omega 3 is can be very helpful. Ditch vegetable oil and stick with butter, olive oil, and coconut oil, and add in omega 3 and probiotics. Also recommend that she try some epsom salt baths for extra magnesium after all of that stress.
High doses of Vitamin D should be taken with A and K, also.
