How do you pick up stitches on linen stitch?

I want to knit a skirty onto a linen stitch soaker but cannot figure out how to pick up the stitches. I know I can mess with it but I am terrified of frogging back on LS since I know I'll drop at least 27 of the slipped stitches.

Would a row of pearl be to long? I can't imagine inserting a lifeline.

I've done them 3 ways... a life line, a purl row and a row of k1, yo, then putting the yo on a lifeline and knitting the knit sts like normal... I like the results of the last one the best but it's the most tedious.

I don't see why a purl row wouldn't work...

I knew I could count on you to answer!

I thought maybe the purl row would be too long since the LS stitches are all squished up together. I was thinking that I could do a LS purl row and pick up the purls and the yos like a purl. I'll try both on a swatch.

I couldn't either until I did it...
