Making a woven wrap

What fabric are these made of? I made a wrap using jersey knit, but I want something sturdier(I love it, but read it can only be used up to 20lbs?)

Re: Making a woven wrap

Woven wraps like Didymos or Girasol are made of a special fabric that is woven specifically for carrying babies. You won't find that fabric at a store. However, you can make a DIY wrap out of linen, osnaburg, gauze, or a tablecloth. These wraps work fine, they just may not be quite as comfortable as an expensive German-style woven wrap.
Here's a blog with a good summary:

Or you can join thebabywearer.com ; their DIY forum has everything you could ever want to know about making a diy woven wrap.

Re: Making a woven wrap

I love tablecloth wraps! If you go that route look for a jacquard weave 100% cotton tablecloth. It's the closest you can get to a "real" wrap. If you can find one around 60''x120'' you can cut it in half widthwise hem and either have two shorties or sew them together with a french seam and have a long wrap! Osnaburg and gauze also work well but may not be the best for heavy toddler. There's a thread dedicated to tablecloths over on thebabywearer.com's DIY forum
