Actually, paypal doesn't like co-ops because of the turn around time sometimes go over the 45 day window, nothing else.
Co-ops are great and not shady, otherwise we wouldn't host co-ops here on DS.

I would say that there are MANY great co-ops out there!

There are also a few that are very shady.

I have seen both on Diaper Swappers, which is why I removed myself from the co-op participation several months ago. It's possible that the awareness of the issue has changed what co-ops are being run here and perhaps DS is being more judicious about what is approved, or at least that is my hope. It would be pretty frustrating to watch a forum about cloth diapering support the undercutting of the innovators in this industry by selling blatant knock offs of the products that they have developed.

Re: Are co-ops in trouble?

I understand that and we definitely are not co-oping knock offs of any products.
Alva diapers are not even co-oped here anymore and haven't been for a while.
THX are and will continue as long as they don't infringe on any other company's patent which they are not since they immediately removed the double gussets which was the issue.

Aren't Alvas part of this current co-op or is it something different?

Again to the wahm coops, cause I love them so much

I wouldn't have known about a billion things if it wasn't for wahm coops.
Mama cloth (lady Bits, kristys kreations, Ashley's sew fun), cloth wipes (at a decent price, no names cause they just did it as a side thing), hair soap (Earthtastic is fabulous btw), bum cream (cute n crunchy- Stephanie Crawford)
Now I stalk the pages waiting for a cool wahm product.
I bought my daughter a crocheted bunny for Easter so cute (stacked peanuts).
Felt play food and educational games look super cool (sage creek designs) but I'm broke, and my daughter is only 9 months... Lol

There are also some 'illegitimate' wahms too. I've seen coops for Mary Kay cosmetics and a couple months ago I was going to sign up to be a rep and was told absolutely no cooping the products.
I also ordered from a coop for mama cloth and the wahm bailed, just disappeared, closed her FB account and stopped responding to anyone (even PayPal).
If you don't get a response from the wahm and others are having a similar issue, don't be afraid to dispute. If the wahm is legit shell get back to you and try to resolve it. If it looks like her account is 'new' and no response she could be a fraud and then you'll get you money back.

I've bought a few diapers from coops (alvas) but by the time it gets here I may as well have ordered from the website as after shipping and coop fees, to Canada it worked out to the same price as the website.

I've seen some coops switch to we pay now because it gives longer grace period.
And if your asked to gift $ not get an invoice, I wouldn't.

But you're hosting a coop for alva NB diapers. I know those arent the diapers in question, but it's still the same company. How is that not hosting Alva diapers?
