no more napping baby cuddles???

those are the best!!

but he will NOT sleep on my shoulder anymore. Daddy's shoulder? yes.
swing? yes.

what? do I smell too much like milk?
is he too upset that I am an inefficient cow?
did he believe me the other night when I said if he didn't fall asleep I was giving him up for adoption? (I didn't mean it!)

I'm at the adoption thing!

That is odd, though - I'm betting it's that he can smell milk and just would rather be sucking and nursing than sleeping!

Prolly. When I hold him, he roots and screams, even if he just finished nursing. If I have to put him in the swing to take care of DD, he falls asleep. I had been trying to get him to nap on me for 10 minutes.

Re: no more napping baby cuddles???

I have noticed Ezra doesn't love being on my shoulder and the only thing I can think is, he has a really strong instinct to nurse when I put him in that position -- it activates his programming and he wants to nurse, just like laid-back breastfeeding. It is sad because I love to neck nuzzle, but he just does the woodpecker dance.

I still can, but he's getting big. I use a paci tho and he.ll take that when he gets fussy.

If i do have an oversupply, seems like the paci is a good idea.

Also giggling at the adoption comment And "the woodpecker dance"! Perfect name for it!

Brigit has started doing this some and I'll try to nurse her but sometimes that makes her more mad...very confusing and frustrating. I can hand her to DH and she'll snuggle and go to sleep or I'll put her in her swing and she'll fall asleep.

Re: no more napping baby cuddles???

it's really not fair! plus DD wants DH, so she doesn't like it if I try to give him DS.

On the plus/minus side, it's going to force me to change our sleeping arrangements. For one, we've been sleeping at night on the couch with him on my chest. But it hasn't been working lately. He's been very wiggly. But I attributed it to other things. Now, I think he just won't settle for me

On the plus side, having used the swing and the pacifier today - I have had a very pleasant day! I can't use his paci over my shoulder though - he doesn't keep it in very well. I even tried to hold him cradle hold with the paci and it doesn't work for me. He just won't settle if I have him. I assume if he's actually hungry that he'll scream for me, so I'm not overly worried.. but I have to admit, it makes me a little worried.

just yesterday he slept on my shoulder when we sat outside to watch DD play.

Oddly enough, only DD1 and Piper have been birdies, the boys never really did it!
