Re: Baby Acne

Piper hasn't had much of anything on her face, but did on her neck and shoulders - still not sure if it was all just baby acne, or from milk (night nursing ends up with milk on her face and neck often!), or from heat.
I don't use soap on her much at all (twice that I can remember, so far), just rinse her with water in the shower with me. I do use thentix lotion (we call it "honey lotion", cuz there are bees on the jar) all over her body. Once I made sure to get her rashy spots nice and dry and lotioned, it started looking better right away.

Re: Baby Acne

I think that boy babies get it worse, or that is what I have read.
All my boys had it, but it would go away in about 2 weeks. The things that seemed to help were the mustela physiobebe no-rise cleanser for babies and california baby calendula cream.

Huh. Interesting. I wonder why?
Now that you've said this, I think it's been that way with my babies - I don't remember DD1 having it too bad at all, but the boys all did to some degree. Levi had it the least of all the boys, and it was quite short-lived with him. Again, we were using the "honey lotion" with him too.
Maybe we'll luck out with Piper?!

Re: Baby Acne

I have also heard if a baby gets acne, it is more likely they will get acne later in life; I know for me, I have acne and it seems like I always have, although I am guessing really just since puberty.

Took me until I was 30 to get my acne under control. Cannot say enough good things about witch hazel.

ITA - I started using pure witch hazel when I was pregnant and it's really helped! I've had great skin during pregnancy!

People are so opposed to trying it. Seems they trust high end pharmaceuticals more than old home remedies

But it really works.

I cut out all of my "acids" when I was pregnant, for safety's sake and because it was so dry out here. Went to Philosophy's Purity cleanser, witch hazel, and a gentle lotion.

I think I've gotten all the baby acne here! At least my babies still have lovely faces . And Adella had a heat rash, so it's almost gone. Do you just put on witch hazel after you wash your face?
