How much $$ for a NB stash?

How much money is a RESONABLE amount to spend on a NB stash. When I say NB I guess I am meaning NB-Small so maybe up to 15lbs or so. I am trying to build an inexpensive stash and the numbers are just NOT working out to what I would like to spend. Maybe I'm being unrealistic?

If you plan on the flats/prefolds with covers route, I would say around $100 to $150 is reasonable. The great thing about newborn diapers is they have awesome resale value! I resold all of my NB diapers for only $15 less than I paid for them because I made sure to keep them in good shape.

A cheap NB stash would be prefolds or flats. Anything NB aio or pocket just aren't worth the $ since they only use them for a couple months. It's almost cheaper to use disposables during thAt time c
But that's just me.

But the resale of NB diapers are pretty high also so the $ you put in you will probably one get a 30% loss in resale.

I agree that $100-150 is about the cheapest you could do a nb stash without making diapers yourself.

Re: How much $$ for a NB stash?

I want to say we spent around $250 for our first newborn stash. FWIW my goal was to spend less than what we spent on disposables for our first for his first 3 months, which was about $300. It was very basic. Prefolds, flats, covers, 10 AIO and a couple fitteds.

If I were doing it...

12 NB Simplex seconds (keep an eye out on their website!): $132
5 Tiny Covers from Assunta Store: $25
2 dozen Osocozy flats: $38
2 sets of Boingos or Snappis: ~$10

So, about $205.

Re: How much $$ for a NB stash?

I am thinking prefolds/flats with covers and HOPEFULLY some AIO's for outings/daddy. So far I have purchased 24 orange edge seconds, 6 GMD small flats, 3 small bummis lite covers and 3 XS ME Sandy's for $80.95. I still need something for after the orange PF's don't fit and I really would like to have 8 or so covers. It seems the Thirsties Duos would last until 15lbs but they are not cheap....even used. I'm not a fan of pull ons or dappi covers. I have flip covers but not sure they are going to work for the tiny babe stage.

Just looked up Assunta.....those are cute! Are they really comparable to Thirsties duos? Thanks for the tips!

ETA: This is very much like the NB stash I would like + PF's

Re: How much $$ for a NB stash?

I did 12 AIO diapers (used from a diaper store), 6 fitted, 6 prefolds, 2 covers and 3 snappis for around $150 dollars. I ended up breaking even when I sold most of it off.

Here's a post I did two weeks ago comparing the Duo and the Assuntas. I'll see about taking another picture of Enzo in the same cover tomorrow.
