Re: My daughter and her unfastened pants

was she wearing a longish shirt? I work in a daycare, and there have been times i didnt notice pants were unbuttoned for a while, because the shirt was covering the fly... and I am allowed to help, obviously, so its not like I didnt want to. there are some kids that just dont ask for help. I agree in sending her in pants she can handle, but if you want to do jeans sometimes, and there isnt a policy against it, just remind her to ask for help when shes done going potty

Re: My daughter and her unfastened pants

My DD couldn't do up her own pants when she started kindergarten this year. I sent her in pants with elastic waists until she could do it herself. (She wore whatever she wanted at home, so that she could practice.) I honestly don't expect the teachers to notice that sort of thing. Safety, yes. Clothing, not really. I wouldn't worry too much, just tell her to ask for help if she needs it, as a pp suggested.

I would be a bit unsettled over it, as well. Just send her in pants that are easy for her from now on. Then it won't be an issue at all.

I wouldn't be too worried about the field trip. Likely, the teachers/staff will be even more vigilant than normal b/c they will be somewhere else. KWIM?

Re: My daughter and her unfastened pants

I have picked both of my older two kids up from preschool before and found their pants unbuttoned and didn't think anything of it. It wouldn't bother me I guess unless they were fully unzipped as well but at that point I would think they would be falling down and the teacher would notice.

Re: My daughter and her unfastened pants

I was in kindergarten when I wore my absolute favorite pants, shiny black velour overalls. (Hello, early 90's!) They had a fastener I couldn't quite manage myself. I heard someone in the teacher bathroom (they just had a stall in the regular bathroom) so I raced out and asked for help. To which, I was scolded and told I would not be helped until I flushed. Well, I fully intended to flush, I just didn't want to have her leave before I asked her. Sigh.

So, I'd advise you send her to school in pants she can do herself, sometimes even if you do ask, you just feel dumb.
