Parental Controls for the PC

Has anyone here implemented add-on parental controls on their pc? Do you have a program you use? I set up a new user account for my 4 year old and used the controls Windows provided, but I'm wondering if I want to be more specific.

My daughter loves this musical character, Gustafer Yellowgold, ( www.gustaferyellowgold.com )and we have most of the music videos and all that, but there is of course a website. The website has a YouTube portal that I'm not so sure about. I want to see if I can allow her the use of the website and block out the portal.

Has anyone done this sort of thing?

Re: Parental Controls for the PC

We have the AVG parental control which used to be Focus on the Family Cloud Care. We can have the internet turned off at certain times of the day unless they know the password to over-ride the program.

We found that there is no way to regulate YouTube so DS1 is only allowed on weekends and we just keep checking on him. He knows if we catch him watching anything he's not supposed to, he loses the computer for the rest of the weekend.

FWIW, DH is an IT Manager. He can limit web sites and times and whatnot but if you allow YouTube, there's no way to restrict the content to certain cartoons.
