Training Pants! Almost There!

So this is take two of my own training pants design. Take one wasn't photographed because it was wayyyyy too big heh. We basically tried every training pant on the market but I'm not satisfied with any of them. Blueberry fit best but it isn't absorbent enough for early trainers. Loved Flips until daughter had a growth spurt; now they leave angry red indentation near the rise snaps. GRR.

*Just* bought a serger and have barely returned to sewing after shelving it for over 5 years. And I decide to jump back in by creating my own training pants, pattern and all. Go big or go home, eh?

Pattern was made by tracing a Blueberry then modifying it. There are 5 layers total: Outer cotton lined w/ 2 layers hemp jersey, with another 2 jersey layers sewn in a loop style that allows for easy drying and insert insertion. I bought zorb for inserts but haven't made them yet. Haven't figured out where/how to add pul yet. Think I may make a pul/zorb insert that snaps into place so that I can still use the training pants as regular undies.

Outer fabric is from Joannes. Hemp jersey is the lightest weight offered @ HempTraders and is buttery, buttery soft. Love, love, love it. Trim is simple cotton rib. No elastic in this version but next one will have it.

Pics are kinda blurry, sorry. Toddler on the move is just too much for my camera.

She is 23.5 lbs, 20" waist, 13" thighs so roughly a size sm/med in most trainers.

Awesome! Have been thinking about getting a serger. Is it hard to learn to use it?
