Can a toddler bed be used as a sofa?

My husband and I currently live in a very small space (400ft). It is one room, similar to a hotel with tiny kitchenette. We cosleep with our 16 month daughter. Or, HE cosleeps while I try to catch Zzzs between nursing daughter back down and curling in a chair, which I now have a passionate hate for. I miss sleeping in a bed!

So we are getting rid of the chair and replacing it (and possibly a dresser) with one of the following:
Loveseat Hide-a-bed
Toddler Bed
Twin Captain's Bed

Whatever we get will have to serve as both a sleeping area for me or our daughter AND a loveseat of sorts. I'd like to go with the toddler bed option because we can then try moving our daughter to her own bed. I'm doubtful about the support, though. Do you think a toddler bed will stand up to daily wear by two adults, around 300 lbs combined weight, on a daily basis? If not, what about adding more support to it somehow?

Thanks for the input!

They're usually very low to the ground, like less than a foot. And most have at least half a rail, so an adult couldn't sit on that end. I believe ours had a 150lb or 200lb limit.

I would go with a captain's bed.

Ours had a 50 pound limit. I don't even sit on it. I lay on the floor next to it when kiddo is upset.

I'd look for a futon instead.

Duh! I don't know why I didn't think to suggest a futon. My son has my old futon in his room (he's 4), and he sleeps on it instead of his bed nightly.

I wouldn't do a toddler bed, it's not practical for your situation.
I would do either a daybed, futon, or hide-a-bed.

What size bed do you currently have? You might be able to find a better solution to that instead of replacing the chair, or in addition to replacing the chair.
A murphy bed could give you some floor space for her to play.
You could also consider a king bed you could all sleep on comfortably.

That better be one comfy futon, the one I slept on at my bros was not at all, no way would I sleep on it all the time.
Id go for a twin captains bed, w/orw/o a trundle, or just a trundle.

Re: Can a toddler bed be used as a sofa?

Thank you everyone. I was pretty sure a toddler bed wouldn't work but they're cheap so I was hopeful. A futon bed won't work because it needs to be flush against the wall. Looks like it's a toss up between twin/day bed and a sofabed. I can find a sofabed for cheaper than I can put together a bed+mattress+back cushions/pillows but the latter can accommodate a bed rail. I have a couple weeks before buying so Craigslist here I come!

I see daybeds with a trundle on Craigslist all the time super cheap. Many of them include the mattresses which would make me nervous but if you could get the zip on allergen bags I think it might be ok? Those bags are WAY cheaper than a new mattress, just put them on before you bring the beds in to your place. Plus if you have a trundle you can eliminate the bedrail if you want because you could be close to the floor.
