Re: What age is raw sushi ok?

My kids all had it for the first time between 2-3yo. My 6yo loves it and 3yo just tries to get the wasabi sauce.

Re: What age is raw sushi ok?

My oldest was 18 months? My youngest was just over a year. They love it. Like pp said I get it from good places and their ped said great, it is good for them. I actually just had my ob tell me to go ahead and eat sushi while preg. He said stick with salmon or non predator fish, but he's never seen a bad outcome from eating sushi.

If a place is trustworthy and follows the rules sushi is safe to eat.

This. I ate sushi while pregnant and just stuck to fish that were low in mercury. We gave our son sushi for the first time at around a year, when he was well into solids and showed interest.

I haven't read the other responses but my oldest grabbed it and stared eating it at 15 months. He did fine with it, so we allowed him to continue having it. He had all of his teeth, including molars, so we never even cut it for him. He is 7 now and still LOVES it. There is a buffet near us that does sushi - good and fresh - and they charge based on age. We took him there when he was 3, paid $3 for his meal, and he easily cleared $40 worth of sushi!

My IL's make sashimi every New Year's Day lunch so my DD was 15 months the first time she ate it and my son was 19 months, the differences in their ages being only because of the differences in birth months.
