Anyone one else have hyperemesis?

I am almost 9 weeks along and feel pretty much like crap all the time. I am taking diclegis twice a day and zofran once a day (but skipping a day or two a week). The diclegis is doing better than that zofran but I still feel gross. Anyone else in the same boat? What are you/have you taken? If you are out of the first trimester are you feeling any better? I have this with every pregnancy (this is my 4th) through the whole pregnancy but the first trimester is much worse than the rest of it. Just wondering if anyone else is around that can commiserate and maybe share their tips and tricks.

Re: Anyone one else have hyperemesis?

I can definitely commiserate mama. I'm 9wks 3days and taking the full dose of diclectin (Canadian diclegis) and it's just barely taking the edge off. I'm still spending a lot of time dry heaving/puking and I pretty much feel craptastic for most of the day. This is my 6th pregnancy, will be our 4th baby, and it just gets worse every time. I'm fairly certain I've built an immunity to the medication. With dd I was still sick for a wk after delivering her. Staying super hydrated helps a little, but the heat/humidity just makes it so much worse. You're not alone.

Re: Anyone one else have hyperemesis?

Had it with two previous pregnancies. I'm about ready to start believing in MIRACLES because I'm 9 weeks and still not vomiting my brains out, just some mild nausea that can be settled by eating.
I never took drugs or medication with my other babies. I was literally bed ridden and my husband became a single parent basically when I was pregnant with our second. It was pure torture. If we wouldn't have been so young and restricted from making permanent birth control choices, I probably would have made one or both of us get fixed after my first. Obviously glad that didn't happen, my second child was worth it, but it still was no fun. (((hugs))) makes no sense that pregnancy should ever make anyone that sick. So sorry.

Re: Anyone one else have hyperemesis?

Well, I am 34 weeks now and on a double dose of diclectin...which is just keeping the nausea at bay for the most part. Some days are worse than others, mornings are always bad, but I don't usually vomit (unless I smell something that turns my stomach or have to clean up dog puke).

This is my 3rd (and last) pregnancy, and it has gotten worse with each one. DH had the snip already as there is no way I can put my body and my family through this again (they are limited in what can be cooked/eaten in the house without setting me off).

I eat little "meals" very frequently as that seems to work best, and try to never let myself get an empty stomach. I also eat breakfast (same thing every day) as soon as I get up or I will start getting queasy and not want to eat. I find that making it the same thing and part of my routine helps because I don't have to think about it too much (even going to open the fridge door in the morning can cause me to dry heave, DH is in charge of making the kids food for the most part)

Try benedryl. Really.

I am a 6 time HG survivor. Mine was so severe though that I literally didn't leave my bed for 3 month during 4 pregnancies. I slept 22 hours a day and vomited the other 2.

A zofran pump may help as well. There is also a wrist band device that is FDA approved for HG. I am trying to remember the name but There are success stories on the helpher.org website. Some great tips there as well.

Re: Anyone one else have hyperemesis?

I am very lucky because when I got bad my Mom came to stay until the end of this month (I should be almost 12 weeks when she leaves) to take care of my kids. I sleep as much as I can because when I'm awake I feel like crap I'm sure if I had to be up more taking care of the kids I would have to up my dose. Since we are totally self pay and the meds are so pricey I take as little as I can.

Woke up out of a dead sleep last night soooo nauseated. I really thought I was going to throw up right then and there but I managed to get down half a zofran and wait it out. I feel quite icky this this morning. Even in my sleep I feel icky. My Mom had HG too. With my youngest sister she was so sick they had her in the hospital with a feeding tube in her shoulder/neck area. They had to cut a hole and insert the thing. So I know I could be worse off. Luckily it does tend to ease after the first trimester so I am just holding out for that. I don't know why some of us are so sick while I know others who never even get nauseous at all. I think they said that Kate (royal Kate) has HG as well. At least we are in good company.

Re: Anyone one else have hyperemesis?

Yes it amazes me how some women have no morning sickness at all. My co worker is 6 weeks behind me and has had none...and of course everyone compares us and I swear they think I am exaggerating. DH even seems to think that because even though I feel like crap I am so used to it that I just get on with life. Will be very strange once she is born and things are normal again!

I don't get morning sickness. I do have some bouts of queeziness but nothing where I loose my meals with. (Been pregnant 6 times)

Re: Anyone one else have hyperemesis?

I am a HG survivor. After 6 yrs of infertility (and every treatment available) and tens of thousands of dollars later and a failed adoption later, I was pg with my first... naturally!!! Then began the 9 months of HELL!!!!! People would say to me after our DD was born "But she was so worth it, right?!" My answer was a non-comical "No." We were told by all our specialist that it was a fluke that I ever got pg. Imagine our surprise when 19 months later, yup, pg again naturally. Another 9 months of HELL!!!! I also had ptylism so I was spitting in a cup every 10 sec (literally) and sleeping with rags in my mouth at night, that would have to be changed a couple of times a night.
My DH got a vasectomy the week after DD #2 was born (the man with not enough sperm to even do regular IVF!!!! and barely enough live sperm to do ICSI!!!!)
7 yrs after DD#2 we adopted our amazing DS at birth. We just weren't done being parents, but I was NOT going through that again.
My DS is the reason I believe I had to go through all that grief. Without it, we would not have been convinced to adopt. And he WAS worth it! LOL (easier to say 8 yrs after the fact!LOL)
Good luck mama. Sleep it off

One of my pregnancies was awful. Phenergan suppositories was what I was given back then.

Do some research on what might vitamin and mineral deficiencies may cause this. I know there's a link but our house just got listed and someone's coming to look at it tonight. I've gotta get my butt in gear and clean.
I hope you feel better soon!
