Last week was 110. So we tried to get out in the mornings when it was cooler.

DD was wilted at the park, so I guess that was too hot.

Yes. As long as I send out cold water, popsicles, and we have them in the shade, they will play outside for quite some time. They do tend to come in and out more often, but that's ok.

We do try to get a few hours outside in the morning, and then a few hours later in the day when the sun isn't as strong. We have lunch, quiet time, crft time/movie time, etc from like 12-4

I don't let my kids outside once it reaches 104*.

Over 110 is too hot , even over 100 the outdoor activity revolves around water (pool, splash pad, sprinkler, etc)

Re: At what temp is it too hot for your kids to be outside?

it's 10:30pm, and it's still 90 degrees outside. i honestly don't let my kids outside much during the summer. there's virtually no shade in our yard, and it's humid, painful to breathe type of heat. the hotter it gets, the worse the air quality is. it's supposed to be 100=104 for the next 6 days, so they will be outside early in the morning, but once it hits about 95, i'll be pretty adamant about them coming inside.

For me, over 95 is too hot to be out and playing in the sun. Shade is fine though! If it's over 95, there has to be something water to play in. My boys don't like the sprinkler too much, they sort of like slip n slide, but they'd prefer it I just drover over to the public pool (which we might do later this week)

Re: At what temp is it too hot for your kids to be outside?

we are well into the 100s my kids get outside in the early morning by about 9am its really way too hot to be outside. I allow latter bedtimes (we all take aftenoon naps) so they can get outside in the evening where at least the setting sun will cool things off a bit.
I take them to an indoor play place a few times a week as well to get in some big movements.

If there's an activity outside in the heat, we just sweat and jump from shady spot to shady spot, lol. I learned, unfortunately kind of late in life, how helpful cold wet cotton prefolds feel on hot skin. That's how I do my gardening in the summer here, with a wet prefold around my neck, and sticking my head under the running water hose helps too!

Do you have a kiddie pool? Those were so nice when I had little ones around.

Over 100. But I just have the little. We go out after sunset. I won't even take him to the pool after 105 yet.

Re: At what temp is it too hot for your kids to be outside?

Depends on what we are doing and the humidity. Anything over 90 and 80% and we stay inside during peak sun times. Usually we go out in the morning or evening,. I try to avoid full sun between 12 and 4 since I have all very pale red headed kids that burn super easy. One that is very sensitive to heat and just melts and gets sick if he gets to hot, even with plenty of water to drink.

When it is really hot and we are going to be outside we are either playing with water or in the shade.
