Re: What's the going rate for the tooth fairy?

Yikes! I can't believe so many give so much! They are nasty old teeth. We don't do the 'tooth fairy' Well, I am the tooth fairy. The kid gets to show off their nasty tooth to the brothers then it gets tossed in the trash and I pull out a lego mini figure. So, I guess $4 per tooth but I buy them at Target when I have 10% off and just hoard a whole bunch of mini figures. They work for all kinds of things. My son had timed math tests in 2nd grade and really really struggled to pass. He took the thing like 15 times. So, when he finally passed...yep, lego mini figure! FWIW, we don't do Santa or the Easter bunny either. My kids get plenty of stuff but they know it is from me and their dad. I'm a bit of a 'credit' person. If I spend time and money picking out the perfect gift, they are going to know it came from me!

We're going with $2 for this first tooth and $1 after that. I'm pretty sure I got $1 for my first and then fifty cents or a quarter for the rest.

Now, if only the kid will fall asleep so I can do the fairy thing! We're at 2.5 hours past her normal asleep time now. "It's just too hard to sleep! I don't remember how!"

Re: What's the going rate for the tooth fairy?

subbing! DD is 5 and we will face this soon enough. I got $5 when I was a kid, though I remember one special tooth where I got $10. I went to Disneyland with my grandparents and lost it on the plane going. My grma gave me $5 there (I was a little older so knew the tooth fairy concept but also knew it was my mom) and my mom gave me another $5 when I got home.

$5-$20, depending on what I have in my wallet at the time. I used to get $1-$5.

I agree with the above. We don't do the tooth fairy either! Our kids know its us. And they only get 50 cents a tooth (1 dollar for the first one only).
