Hi there! I received a starter + recipe for Amish friendship bread. The recipe calls for instant pudding mix, but I am not fully convinced that the Amish uses that in their recipes.

Does anyone have any yummy Amish bread recipes that they'd like to share with me? I have to bake tomorrow!!!!

When I make mine, I skip the instant pudding and use an extra cup of the starter in the mix, plus 1 teaspoon of vanilla. I haven't actually found a recipe that doesn't call for the pudding, but it is too expensive for me. So this was my solution. It works great everytime.

IMO vanilla is way more $$ than vanilla pudding. My Walmart has the instant pudding 3/$1 normally!

i just skip it, it always turns out fine! if you google amish friendship bread recipe you will get tons of ideas, i like making amish bread pancakes, they are super yummy, if i have time i will try and get a link but i have to go put kiddos down.

I use vanilla pudding and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar in the pan before I put the bread mix in and also on top of the bread...yummmy!
I have also used banana pudding and added nuts-that was good too.

We live in Amish country and I have Amish neighbors, and yes, they do use instant pudding in their recipes. They're not THAT backwards, they go to the grocery store, too!!
