Does anyone use borax in their diaper washing?

how much per load, if you do? I just bought some awhile ago, because it was recommended for laundry in general. ANd I'm wondering how much to use in my diaper loads.

I have soft water and a front loading washer (but an older model).

I make my own laundry soap with borax in it and I use it on diapers but its all mixed so I can say how much per load, less than a tablespoon though

I have Borax, too, and I've always wondered what it's made of, or what the function of it would be in cd'ing (if that makes senses!) Like, baking soda absorbs odors, vinegar helps rinse clean, but what would borax be for?
I can't really find info on it on the web.
Anyone know?

I have hard water and a top loading washer, so I use 1/2 cup during the wash.

I just read somewhere recently that it works like washing soda on odors, but better. But it might have been 1 person's opinion. OMMV

Re: Does anyone use borax in their diaper washing?

I'm a dedicated Borox user! I have no idea what it's made of, or what's in it, but I know it does a great job getting the smell out, and I haven't had a problem with build up on the diapers either! I use about 1/2 cup a load...but I just pour it in, but 1/2 cup is an estimate.

It's also good if you have a husband with aweful smelling shoes! Just pour a little in there and it does the job! Also, put it in your diaper pails, wet bags, etc. It's absorbs the nasty smells!

Hope that helps!

I have an older FL and super soft water, and it made my dipes get bad build up. I would start with very little at a time to make sure it doesn't do that to you.

Re: Does anyone use borax in their diaper washing?

Just found this link, it confirmed what I thought. The reason why borax caused me problems was because it softens water, which only made it worse for me. I wish my water was a little harder sometimes, because I have trouble rinsing even the tiniest amt. of soap out.
