need help PLEASE with 2yo night wakings
I need help figuring out what to do with my ds who is just a few months past 2. Bear with me as this will probably be long to explain what has all been going on.
When we first brought dd home 8 mos ago, ds started waking with night terrors (waking up screaming, kicking totally possessed.) after a bit it seemed to calm down. although occasionally after a nap or in the night it would happen. then around december he got sick and since then he has been sick pretty much, i mean he will get better for maybe a few days or a week, but then he is sick again with a cough, runny nose and sometimes a fever. right now he is on 3 days of health. but during this time he wakes up and is usually really upset and hard to settle him down. sometimes he wants to sleep on the couch with daddy, sometimes in our bed, sometimes you try everything and it doesn't matter he is just upset. we have tried giving him "nighty nighty" tea, we have tried different homeopathic remedies, we have tried him in our bed (but he would still wake up upset in the middle of the night), we tried not giving him food/liquid close to bed time, we have tried giving him a snack and liquid right before bed, we eat mainly organic, non processed food, leaving him to cio isn't even an option since he climbs out of his crib and just comes to get us anyway, i have tried scenting his room with lavendar. nothing works. I cannot keep getting up with him during the night and staying up for an hour or more. plus getting up with dd is it time to take him to the doctor?? or do you have any ideas?? any help would be sooo appreciated thanks to any who made it all the way through this

Re: need help PLEASE with 2yo night wakings
We went through several months with dd where she would wake up IN a fit...kicking, screaming, just plain MAD! It ended up not being night terrors as she was coherent during these fits, just inconsolable. However, in my research of night terrors, I came across a smidgeon of info. in one little article that really helped. The wife of a dr. noticed that when their son was waking up and having fits, he usually had to use the potty (something to do with the immature bladder and the developing brain). This definitely held true with dd, although she was usually so upset that getting her to calm down and go was a feat in itself. Once she went, the fit usually ended. It's probably a long shot but if he's potty-trained or in the process it could be a thought. Good luck! I know how disruptive and frustrating it can be!

Re: need help PLEASE with 2yo night wakings
I would try running an extensive blood panel through a naturopath to check for a wide range of possible allergies. It doesn't sound like dyes are a problem since you eat mostly organic. How is his behavior during the day? Is there any other concerning behavior. If he has been sick a lot you will want to look at ways to boost his immune system.
